Army-Erected & Old Royalists Sponsored New House Vested in Deserving Alvai Family

One more underprivileged family in Alvai, Jaffna was the latest beneficiary of a new house, built by troops of the Security Force Headquarters-Jaffna after financial assistance was provided by old boys of the 1980 Batch at Colombo Royal College, belonging to the Old Boys' Association (Tamil medium) at the College.

The new house, erected expeditiously by technically-qualified troops of 4 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment under the supervision of the Commander 551 Brigade was vested in MrsTharsan Yogeshwari, a disabled mother with three children who has been without a proper shelter during a simple warming ceremony, in which Major General Sujeewa Senarath Yapa, Commander, Security Forces-Jaffna, together with the representative of the sponsors, Mr. Rajendran Thyagaraja, Brigadier Prasanna Gunaratne, General Officer Commanding 55 Division, 551 Brigade Commander attended as distinguished guests on Wednesday (26).

Hindu religious rites and rituals were observed during the warming ceremony before the keys were delivered to the beneficiary.

The sponsors came forward to support the project after the plight of this desperate family was brought to the notice of Major General Sujeewa Senarath Yapa, Commander Security Forces Jaffna.

During the brief ceremony, dry ration packs and some essential household items, required for this new house were also gifted to the beneficiaries by the Commander Security Forces Jaffna, in addition to a stock of stationery items for her schooling children.

General Officer Commanding of 55 Division, Brigade Commanders of 551 and 552 Brigades, ASP - Point Pedro, Divisional Secretary for Point Pedro, government Officials and troops of the Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna were also present during this ceremony.
