Army Engineers Busy Completing Welimada Central College Project

Sri Lanka Army Engineers Brigade in another nation-building project has undertaken the development of the entire school infrastructure at Welimada Central College on a Presidential directive, made under the national school development project.

The initial work of the project started in December 2020 as per instructions given by General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army and Major General Rohan Amarasekara, Chief Field Engineer.

The State Ministry of Rural and Sports, School Development with the objective of promoting physical health of students began this national project after the recent visit of HE the President to the Badulla District a few months ago.

The State Ministry has allocated a sum of Rs 27 m for construction of a new pavilion, drainage system around the playground and the renovation of the student hostels inside the school compound.

12(V) Engineer Services Regiment under the supervision of the General Engineer Brigade and 6 Field Sri Lanka Engineers under the Plant Engineer Brigade are currently engaged in the project under the directions of Major General Chandana Wijesundara, General Officer Commanding, Sri Lanka Army Engineer Division.
