Players of the Sri Lanka Army Elle Team in the Michael Vaz and Honey Thamel Elle Tournament -2023 played at Marawila after beating the rival Barudalpotha Christ King Sports Club Elle Team scored impressive 12 runs in the finals and emerged winners in the first-round matches during 8 -16 July in the Thoduwawa Golden Beach Sports Club.
This tournament featured 16 teams, inclusive of the Sri Lanka Army Elle Team. The Sri Lanka Army Elle Team demonstrated their prowess by defeating Waduramba St. Anne’s Sports Club Elle Team in the semi -finals.
During the finals, the Barudalpotha Christ King Elle Team put up a challenging effort, but managed to score only four runs.
Accordingly, Corporal W.A.D Avishka of Sri Lanka Army Service Corps was awarded as the Man of the Elle Tournament as well as the Best Batsman. Private K.A.L Madushanka of Sri Lanka Army Service Corps was selected as the Best Runner of the Elle Tournament.
Man of the Match went to Lance Corporal P.D.N Sampath of Sri Lanka Army Signal Corps and Private K.A.R.P.K Perera of Sri Lanka Light Infantry was selected as the Best Batsman in the finals.
The Sri Lanka Army Elle Team’s victory in the finals was a testament to their excellent teamwork, dedication and training.
