Army Cyclists Win All Ten Slots in NYC Race

Push cyclists in the Army, competing in the recent Open Push Cycle Race of the National Youth Council (NYC) Sports Festival secured victory in all the first ten slots in the race.

The Open Cycling Race of the NYC Sports Festival was held at Maharagama recently with the participation of 142 young cyclists from all the provinces in the country. Cyclists representing all regiments of the Army too competed in this race.

Beating others, cyclists representing the Army managed to clinch all first ten places in the race with Private M. P. Deshitha Rajapaksa of Sri Lanka Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (SLEME) finishing as the first.

Private K. I. P. G. Wickrama of SLEME, Private L. P. G. Fernando, Private R. T. C. Dayanandana of SLEME, Private B. K. A. Udaya Kumara of Sri Lanka Army Ordnance Corps (SLAOC), Private R. A. R. P. Ranasinghe of SLAOC, Private Y. A. N. Dulantha of SLEME, Lance Corporal D. S. Jayasinghe of SLEME, Private K. A. Jayamal of SLEME and Private R. G. S. Chathuranga of SLEME in succession finished clinching slots from the 2nd place up to the 10th place respectively.
