Army Cyclists Do Okay in 'Iron Riders' Cycle Race

The Sri Lanka Army cyclists won the 03rd, 04th, 05th, 06th, 15th and 17th slots in the Divulapitiya, Maradagahamula 'Iron Riders' Sports Club-organized racing bicycle competition (men's category) while Army women cyclists secured the 08th and 10th slots in the women's race.

The Sri Lanka Cycling Federation and Gampaha District Cycling Association jointly launched the project on 20 August in the heart of Divulapitiya town.

As directed by the Commander of the Army, Chairman of the Sri Lanka Army Cycling team enabled Regimental cyclists to participate in the event. Other than Army Teams, cyclists teams of the Navy, Air Force, Police, Port Authority, and Dehiwala-Mount Lavinia Municipality participated in the cycling race. In all, around- 100 cyclists competed in the event.

Major General J.A.R.S.K Jayasekara USP psc, Chairman of the Army Cycling Federation participated as a special guest during the inaugural occasion of this competition giving encouragement to the Army cyclists.
