A friendly cricket match between the Army Cricket Team and the Jaffna District Cricket Team, organized by the Security Force HQ - Jaffna on a suggestion of Major General Swarna Bothota, Commander Security Forces - Jaffna got underway at Jaffna Central College playground on 26 March 2023.
The match was witnessed by a large gathering of the youth where the District Cricket Team - Jaffna had a close tussle against their rivals. However, the Army Cricket Team finally made the day and emerged winners amid roars of cheers and applause.
Major General Vajira Welagedara, General Officer Commanding, 51 Infantry Division, Brigadier General Staff, Brigadier Dhammika Karunapala and Mr. Nishanthan, President of Jaffna District Cricket Association joined the awarding ceremony.
Senior Officers, Officers, Other Ranks, Officers of Jaffna District Cricket Association and civilians of the area also witnessed the match.
