Army Coordination Supported by Sponsors for Donation of School Requirements

Consequent upon sponsorship, extended by one Mr Eranga Jayakody and Mrs. Munza Mushtaq through the coordination of the Civil Affairs Officer of the 652 Brigade, a large stock of school accessories were donated to 53 needy students at Vinayagapuram Government Tamil Mixed School in the 652 Brigade area in Akkarayankulam on Monday (20).

Following guidance given by the General Officer Commanding, 65 Division, Major General Anil Samarasiri, 10 Battalion Sri Lanka Light Infantry troops of the 652 Brigade launched the programme.

Each pack contained a school bag, shoes with socks, water bottles. lunch boxes, books, pens, etc to the value of Rs. 4,500.00 each pack and the project cost of Rs 238,500.00 for those two philanthropists.

The aim of the programme is to upgrade the education of underprivileged school children in the areas served by Wanni Security Forces in order to promote ethnic harmony and bonds of goodwill between troops and civilians in the area.
