62 Division troops of the Security Force Headquarters - Wanni coordinated the distribution of financial assistance to some 1000 families, resident in Maruthodai, Weheratenna, Kebithigollewa, Horowupothana, Sampathnuwara, Gajabapura, Ethawetunawewa and Sinhapura with financial support, extended by ‘Thiyahie’ Charitable Trust on the eve of the new year on Tuesday (12).
The sponsorship extended by Mr Vamadeva Thiagendran, Founder and Chairman of ‘Thiyahie’ Charitable Trust enabled the supply of a cash gift of Rs 2000/= to 1000 families each in above areas following close coordination, done by the troops in consultation with Grama Seva officials in respective areas.
Each person in one family under this donation programme received Rs. 2000/=. Major General Champaka Ranasinghe, Commander Security Force Headquarters Wanni graced the occasion as the Chief Guest at the inauguration of the donation project.
Representatives of the donors, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks participated in the mammoth project, visiting each area.
Meanwhile, the same donation programme got underway on Monday (11) covering the areas of Nochchiyagama and Thanthirimale in the Anuradhapura district. Together with Major General Champaka Ranasinghe, Commander, Security Forces - Wanni, Major General Mohan Rathnayake, General Officer Commanding, 21 Division joined the distribution of those cash gifts to those needy people.
213 Brigade Commander and Other Ranks in the 213 Brigade organized the arrangements in this regard.
