Army Chief Observes Ongoing Development Projects at Diyatalawa

General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army in Diyatalawa to attend the award ceremony of the Inter Regiment Combat Firing Meet-2021 took time off on Saturday (29) morning to inspect a couple of ongoing development and beautification projects in the garrison complex.

He at first called at the 1 Gemunu Watch Training school premises where recruit training sessions are on. During his stay there, he closely inquired into facilities and requirements of the trainees and the school and spoke to authoritative officers working there.

Afterwards, he moved to observe construction and renovation projects in the 7 Sri Lanka Signal Corps (SLSC) camp and 17 Corps of Engineer Services (CES) camp before he visited the renovation work of the proposed Officers' accommodation complex near Diyatalawa railway station.

The Army chief closely watched ongoing projects, chatted with Army troops, engaged in those sites and gave necessary directions to Commanding Officers in charge of those sites and project officers present there. He wanted all constructions and new development work be carried out to match with eco-friendly concerns without hindering any of the picturesque landscape views and natural surroundings.

The visits were joined by Major General Samantha Silva, Commander Security Forces-Central, Commanding Officers of 7 SLSC and 17 CES and several Senior Officers.
