Army-Built Protective Wall at Iranapalai School Formally Vested in Principal & Students

The new protective wall at Iranapalai Roman Catholic Maha Vidyalaya, built with engineering and technical expertise of troops under the 68 Division Headquarters of the Security Force Headquarters - Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT) was formally vested in school authorities and students during a brief ceremony on Monday (9) to coincide with 68th Army anniversary arrangements.

School authorities after reaching 68 Division Headquarters in the area a few weeks ago sought the Army support for construction of a protective wall around the Iranapalai Roman Catholic Maha Vidyalaya where hundreds of children are learning.

Troops readily responded to the request and completed the construction of the protective wall of 6 ft in height and 300 ft in length, sparing a considerable sum of money for the school. The wall cost the school about Rs 3 lakhs in raw materials, provided by the Department of Education and provincial authorities.

The formal handover of the completed project took place on Monday (9) inside the school premises in the presence of the clergy in the Iranapalai church, principal, members of the tutorial staff, parents of the school development society and students during a simple ceremony.

68 Division Senior Officers declared the completion of the project and thanked school authorities for the confidence they have had in the Army. Speakers on the occasion praised the Army for its generosity and the services offered free of charge.
