The Chairman of the Army Athletics Committee, Major General Sujeewa Senarath Yapa, Commandant, Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF) made a visit to the Torrington Grounds on Friday (8) and inspected the training sessions underway for Army athletes, representing the Sri Lanka Athletics Pool.
During his interaction with the athletes, he boosted the morale for achievement of more and more victories and spoke about the importance of sustained training sessions to reach set goals. At the same occasion he gifted a few mattresses to them for use during Yoga training. These athletes represent the elite pool of Sri Lankan athletes.
The Secretary of the Sri Lanka Army Athletics Committee and 581 Brigade Commander, Brigadier Priyantha Nawarathna, Chairman, Development Committee of the Sri Lanka Army Athletics and Sports Officer, SLAVF, Lieutenant Colonel Sujeewa Priyanthalal and members of the Army Athletics Committee were associated with the visit.
