Army athletes participating in the ‘Road Race’ marathon event in the 12th Defence Services Games (DSG) showcased exceptional sportsmanship skills securing Gold Medals in all categories on Saturday (June 24).
The ‘Road Race’ marathon, organized this time by the Sri Lanka Air Force was competed by more than 60 athletes of the Tri-Services.
During the event, Army athletes achieved 02 Gold medals, 01 Silver medal and 01 Bronze medal in individual categories and secured Gold medals in both men’s and women’s team events. The ‘Road Race’ marathon commenced from the Malima Club House, Uswetakeiyawa covered a distance of 21 km to conclude after their return to the same starting point.
Major General R.A.J.N Ranasinghe RSP USP ndc, Chairman, Sri Lanka Army Athletics, together with Brigadier V.M.N Hettiarachchi RWP RSP, Secretary to the Sri Lanka Army Athletics was associated with the event from the beginning and motivated and guided Army athletes to achieve success.
Chairman of the Defence Services Games, Senior Officers, Officers, and Other Ranks witnessed the event.
