Army Athletes in Asian Games Make New Records Winning Bronze Medals

Sergeant Nadeesha Ramanayake of Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps competing in the ‘Asian Games’ in China clinched a Bronze medal in the 4 x 400 m relay run (Women) on Wednesday (4 October) afternoon.

Clocking 3.30.88 minutes, she however presented a formidable challenge to the fellow runners but ended in the third place after four rounds. The relay was joined by Jayeshi Uththara, Lakshima Mendis and Tharushi Karunarathne from Sri Lanka.

Meanwhile, Staff Sergeant Kalinga Kumarage, Sergeant Aruna Dharshana, Corporal Rajitha Rajakaruna and Lance Bombardier Pabashara Niku of the Sri Lanka Army made another new Sri Lankan record in the ‘Asian Games’ by grabbing a Bronze medal in the 4 x 400 m relay run (Men). The team jointly recorded 3.02.55 minutes.
