Another War Hero Gets New House from Seva Vanitha Unit of MoD

The Seva Vanitha Unit of the Ministry of Defence symbolically handed over a newly built house to another disabled war hero today (12 March) morning.

Chairperson of the Seva Vanitha Unit Mrs. Ioma Rajapaksa ceremonially handed over the keys of this newly built house to Sgt. Kolonnage of Commando Regiment.

S/551421 Sergeant Kolonnage KAWN of Commando Regiment had fought many fierce battles against the LTTE terrorists and during the last humanitarian operation he unfortunately lost his leg and became a disabled.

Mrs. D N Weerathunga gave financial aid to construct the new house and it was built at Sinharupagama , Bentota in Galle Divisional Secretariat Division. Sri Lanka Army 4th Engineering Corps provided the lobour and technical assistance to complete the construction of this new house.

Vice chairperson of the SVU of MOD Mrs. Indu Rathnayaka, Mrs. D N Weerathunga, senior officers of Commando Regiment and a crowd of villagers were also present at the occasion. (Courtesy: MoD)
