Army troops of the 55 Infantry Division of the Security Force HQ-Jaffna on account of the 26th Anniversary of the 55 Infantry Division pocketed out their own money and provided 100 dry ration packs with nutrients to expectant women in the general areas of Kevil, Vettalaikerny and Maradankerni on 17 December 2022 after inviting the beneficiaries to the 55 Infantry Division HQ.
Major General Prassanna Gunaratne, General Officer Commanding (GOC) and Rev Father Amal Raj, the Head Priest of Saint Mary’s Church Kaddaikadu gave the conceptual guidance to the project while attending the distribution as chief guests.
Each pack of those incentives included rice, cereals, grains, milk powder packets, Soya Meat packets, Soap bars, Sugar, big onions, Potatoes, 1 tin of canned fish and spices to the value of Rs 5000.This community-oriented gesture was supported and attended by Rev Father Amal Raj, the Head Priest of Saint Mary’s Church, Kaddaikadu and Major General Prassanna Gunaratne, the General Officer Commanding of the 55 Infantry Division as chief guests.
The Kovil priest (Kurukkal) at Vettalaikerny Pullayar Iyar Kananada Kovil, Grama Seva officials, Mrs. Denshiya, President of Differently -Able Committee in Killinochchi, Mr. S Jeewakumara and several others too attended the occasion.
