Sri Lankan Ambassador for Lebanon and Syria, Her Excellency, Mrs Shani Calyaneratne Karunarathne paid a courtesy visit to the office of Major General Stefano Del, Head of Mission and Force Commander of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) at the UNIFIL-HQ on Monday (9).
Further, both delegates had cordial discussions on matters of mutual relevance during the session and mementos were exchanged between the senior officer and the Sri Lankan ambassador to mark the occasion.
Afterwars, both the ambassador and the military Officer visited the 12th Sri Lanka Force Protection Company at Greenhill. The Ambassador was greeted in a drive past Guard Turnout and warmly welcomed by the Contingent Commander Lieutenant Colonel Sujeewa Batagalla and other Officers.
Moreover, she addressed the troops and had a cordial discussion on conduct of peacekeeping duties and the matters pertaining to soldiers. During the troop address, the Ambassador highly appreciated the UNIFIL commitment and the present peacekeeping duties of the Sri Lankan Army in UNIFIL.
Finally, Officer Commanding presented a memento to the Ambassador and invited them to join a dinner, comprised of Sri Lankan cuisine.
