Troops of the 231 Brigade of the 23 Division under the Security Force Headquarters - East in collaboration with the National Programme Director of the CERI organization carried out a beach cleaning programme from Kallady to Kattankudy covering about 4 km in length on Saturday (11).
Initiated by the Commander, 231 Brigade, Brigadier W.M.N.K.D Bandara with the support of Mr E. Darshan Vijayarathnam of the CERI organization, the community programme was joined by 40 Army personnel, including 6 Officers, 30 Navy personnel, 46 Policemen, 17 personnel of the National Cadet Corps and about 10 people of the CERI organization.
All participants completed the project within hours to the best satisfaction of the civilians in the area.
