A/L Students in Wanni Benefited from Army-organized Seminar

On a suggestion, made by Major General Kumudu Perera, Commander, Security Forces - Wanni (SF-W), Wanni troops launched a two-day seminar for GCE A/L candidates, expecting to sit the examination in August this year in both arts and commerce streams at V/Puthukulam Maha Vidyalaya during 3 - 4 July 2018.

The project, organized by the 611 Brigade was aimed at assisting those candidates to brush up their knowledge on specific subjects and broadening their horizons on reconciliation gestures. Over 175 A/L students from different schools in the zone enthusiastically participated in the arrangement.

Seminar sessions, addressed by popular lecturers largely focused on Accounts, Business studies, Economics, Political Science, Geography, Tamil and Hindu culture and were coordinated by the Zonal Education office in Vavuniya in close liaison with the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 61 Division, Brigadier K.D.C.J Thilakarathna, Brigade Commander, 611 Brigade, Colonel L.D.S.S Liyanage and a few others. 611 Brigade attended to all administrative requirements, including the supply of tutorial notes and refreshments for all attendees.

Students in remote areas and other under-privileged students in rural areas were benefited during the arrangement.

Director Zonal Educational Office Vavuniya, Mrs Surandren, Assistant Director (Higher Education) Mrs Jayeethisan and his staff and the principal, along with teachers of V/Puthukulam Vidyalaya contributed to the success of the Seminar.
