Agriculture & Livestock Corps Turns One Year Old

The Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture and Livestock, dedicated to promote agriculture and livestock, situated at Karandeniya, Ambalangoda marked its 1st Anniversary on Tuesday (4).

Major General Shiran Abeysekera, Director General Financial Management (DGFM) of the Army and Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Corps of Agriculture and Livestock attended the anniversary commemorations, held at the Regimental HQ during 3 - 4 January 2022 as the Chief Guest.

A Bodhi Pooja preceded the military ceremony where a Guard Turnout saluted the day’s Chief Guest on arrival at the venue. Afterwards, the Chief Guest opened the newly-laid road patch that leads to the Regimental HQ and joined a treat and a donation to the Warusawithana Elders’ Home and the launch of the new website of the Regiment.

The visiting Colonel Commandant extended his gratitude during his address to the troops and praised their efforts to join the government’s drive to go green in an enthusiastic manner. Afterwards, he joined an all rank tea and wished everyone a happy new year.

He also did not forget to thank General Shavendra Silva, Head of the Green Agriculture Operation Center (GAOC), Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army for his visionary guidance for improvement of agricultural sector in the country.
