AG with GOC & Senior Officers Reviews Construction Progress at New Army Hospital at Pallekele

Major General Sanjaya Wanasinghe, Adjutant General at the Army Headquarters, together with Major General Kithsiri Liyanage, General Officer Commanding, 11 Division HQ in Pallekele and Brigadier Rohitha Rathnayake, Commander, 111 Brigade on Thursday (2) made an inspection tour to assess the construction progress of the new Army Hospital complex in Kandy, the first of its kind for Army personnel in the up country.

Finishing touches are currently being given by skilled Army engineers to this state-of-the art hospital under construction, adjoining the 11 Division HQ compound as per directions of the Commander of the Army and those visiting Senior Officers reviewed the progress and watched a presentation on its final phases during the conference that ensued afterwards before they shared a few constructive thoughts with troops at work.

The new two-building Hospital complex with 123 beds, equipped with 4 Wards for retired Officers/Other Ranks, serving Officers and Other Ranks, Consultation Rooms, X-ray unit, ECG unit, Laboratory, Ultra Sound Scanner unit, Pharmacy, Card Section, Ward Master's office, HDU section, Dental unit, Nurses’ Rest Room, Pantries, Female section, VIP rooms, Rest Rooms, separate four rooms for Senior Officers are to be provided with all sophisticated digital and IT facilities and most modern accessories/appliances upon completion.

A separate adjoining building houses the OPD, ETU, Dressing Room, Operation Theatre, Recovery area, Laundry, Physiotherapy unit, Administrative complex, Medical Officers' accommodation and a few other wings.
