8 SLNG Troops with Hospital Staff Provide Medical Aid to Civilians

In order to ensure people of low-income groups have access to mobile health facilities, troops of the 8 Sri Lanka National Guard of the 242 Brigade under the 24 Division of the Security Force Headquarters - East in collaboration with the Thirukkovil Base Hospital staff, organized a mobile medical camp at ‘Forum to Assist children’s Education Centre’ in Umri, Thirukkovil on Tuesday (30).

A total of 16 medical officers and 8 nursing and minor staffers of the Thirukkovil Base Hospital in cooperation with the support of the troops examined 331 low income group civilians, resident in the Sangamangramam Grama Seva Niladari Division who are affected with various illnesses and ailments during this mobile camp.

In addition, a large group of sick civilians were given medication and some of them were referred to base hospitals and regional ones.

The humanitarian arrangement was staged on the directions of Major General Saliya Amunugama, General Officer Commanding, 24 Division. The Brigade Commander, 242 Brigade, Brigadier Sampath Fernando, together with Commanding Officer of the 8 SLNG, Major S.J Amadoru, several Officers and Other Ranks of 8 SLNG participated in the arrangement.
