7 MIC Troops Continue Fight against Narcotics & Drug Peddlers

7 Military Intelligence Corps (7 MIC) troops of the 222 Infantry Brigade under the 22 Division with Policemen are currently engaged in apprehending illicit drug peddlers with cannabis and narcotics from the general areas of Kantale and Trincomalee areas.

On information received on 3 December 2022, 7 Military Intelligence Corps (MIC) troops arrested a suspect from Trincomalee area with 7 grams of Kerala Cannabis and he was delivered to the Trincomalee Police for further investigations. The arrest was done with the assistance given by Police Officers, attached to the Trincomalee Police Station.

In the meantime, another drug smuggler with 3 grams of Kerala Cannabis and 60 mg of Heroine was nabbed by 7 Military Intelligence Corps troops on a tip-off given by an informant. Kantale Police Station has taken the suspect into custody.

On the same day (3), 7 Military Intelligence Corps, together with Kantale Policemen arrested another suspect with 210 mg of ‘ICE’ (Methamphetamine). The suspect was taken into Kantale Police custody.

The Commander of the Security Forces-East, together with the General Officer Commanding, 22 Infantry Division and the Brigade Commanders of the 221 and 222 Infantry Brigades, closely monitored above arrests.
