Troops of the 7 Gemunu Watch (7 GW) of the 142 Infantry Brigade and the 14 Infantry Division under the Security Force HQ - West (SFHQ-West), conducted a mobile maternal and child clinic for the benefit of poor civilians in collaboration with officials of the Maternity Home at Modera on Friday (March 03) at Kelaniya Nadee Viharaya.
This was initiated and supervised by Brigadier Ravindra Jayasinghe, Commander, 142 Infantry Brigade and Lieutenant Colonel D.M.C.M Dissanayake, Commanding Officer, 7 GW on the directions of Major General Deepal Pussella, Commander, SF-West and Major General Roshan Jayamanna, General Officer Commanding, 14 Infantry Division.
Accordingly, two Officers and 15 Other Ranks of the 7 GW led the project and put all arrangements in place at the location. During the clinic, 86 mothers and pregnant women and 50 children were closely examined by two medical officers. 13 assistant staff members of the Maternity Home, Modera with the help of the troops conducted the project.
