On account of the battalion day of the 7 Gemunu Watch (GW), serving under the 233 Infantry Brigade of the 23 Infantry Division, troops organized a special lunch treat to the needy children at Thilakavathiyar Girls’ Home at Kadiraveli in Batticaloa district on Saturday (16 Sept).
Following guidelines given by Major General M.K.U.P Gunaratne RSP ndu psc IG, Commander, Security Forces- East and Major General K.V.N.P Premaratne RSP USP psc, General Officer Commanding, 23 Infantry Division, the lunch treat was launched.
Colonel K.S.P Pothupitiya USP psc IG, the Overlooking Brigade Commander of the 233 Infantry Brigade supported this community-oriented project which was supported by donors in the area.
25 Children and 10 members of the Staff at Thilakavathiyar Girls’ Home enjoyed the meals on the particular day.
The Civil Affairs Officer of the 233 Infantry Brigade, Major M.P Hettiarachchi, Quarter Master of the 7 GW, Captain W.A.D Wijemanna and 2 more Officers and 10 Other Ranks also joined the programme.
