Brigadier Rohan Ponnamperuma of the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment assumed office on Monday (14) as the 12th General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 68 Division under the Security Force Headquarters - Mullaittivu.
The newly-appointed General Officer Commanding was welcomed on arrival by Staff Officers of the Division Headquarters after he was greeted to a formal Guard Turnout at the entrance before he was ushered to the office.
In his new office, Brigadier Rohan Ponnamperuma left his signature for an official document and signified the acceptance of new office amidst religious blessings.
Later on, the newly-appointed General Officer Commanding was invited to plant a sapling to signify the day’s importance. He also took time off to address the troops before joining refreshments.
Brigade Commanders of 681,682 Brigades, Staff Officers of the 68 Division Headquarters, Commanding Officers and Other Ranks participated in the event.
