In order to accelerate the national vaccination drive against COVID- 19 pandemic, the inoculation of the first and the second dose of Sinopharm, was launched for civilians in Puthukiruppu area by 68 Division, 681 Brigade and 682 Brigade troops in coordination with Regional Health Service officers in Pudukudirippu area.
Vaccination centres were established in Pudukudirippu, Vallawapuram, Mungilaru and Thevipuram areas and the programme was initiated on the direction of the Commander, Security Forces-Mullaittvu, Major General Sisira Pilapitiya and under the close supervision of the General Officer Commanding, 68 Division Major General Keerthi Bandara.
The Army, empowering the ongoing vaccination drive is now fully committed to provide the jab across the island, including mobile vaccination programmes on the directions of General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff, Commander of the Army and Head of the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak as per directives given by HE the President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.
