68 Division Builds Pre-school &;amp; Allows Civilians to Fish in Nanthikadal After De-mining

The Shanthi Community Animation Movement recently funded the establishment of the pre-school ‘Blooming Flowers’ in newly-resettled Kombavil area, following labour support provided by the 11 Sri Lanka Artillery and 682 Brigade troops.

Brigadier K.J Wijetilleke, General Officer Commanding (GOC), 68 Division responded to the patronage offered by Rev Fr Ranjith Abeysinghe of the Shanthi Community Animation Movement and mobilized his troops for construction of the new pre-school building. After its opening, gifts were also distributed among the students.

Meanwhile, troops facilitated the re-commencement of fishing in the Nanthikadal lagoon at the request of villagers and fishermen after de-mining work was confirmed over.

The first day’s fishing work began after a simple ceremony attended by 68 Division GOC and other senior officers together with civilians in the area.
