68 Div &;amp; 683 Brigade Construct School Buildings &;amp; Conduct Mobile Clinic

Generosity of the prefects (2011/2012) at St Peter’s College Colombo resulted in the donation of a new class room to the Roman Catholic School at Iranapalai, Puthukkudirippu.

Troops serving 68 Division commanded by Brigadier K.J Wijetilleke, General Officer Commanding constructed the new class room building which remained a long-felt need.

During a brief ceremony attended by Iranapalai parish priest and Brigadier Wijetilleke, the class room was formally opened and handed over to the school’s principal.

Meanwhile, 10 Sri Lanka Signal Corps (SLSC) troops serving 683 Brigade area under 68 Division Headquarters recently built a new pre-school building and a community hall at Kalaivani and formally handed over to teachers and villagers.

Brigadier K.J Wijetilleke, General Officer Commanding, 68 Division at the invitation of Lieutenant Colonel B.W.M.J.A Premadasa, Commanding Officer 10 SLSC attended the ceremony, together with Lieutenant Colonel M.W.A.A Wijesooriya, Commander, 683 Brigade and a gathering of civilians. A stock of gift parcels and furniture were also donated to teachers of the pre-school and students on the same occasion.

In the meantime, 18 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) troops, following cooperation of ‘Dr Hudson Silva Foundation’ took steps to conduct a mobile medical clinic for civilians in Wallipunam, Kombavil and Visuamadu areas. During the clinic, doctors examined about 200 patients and prescribed different medicine.
