Dry ration packs, inclusive of nutrients & essentials, prepared for pregnant women of low-income group families were distributed among fifty (50) pregnant women in Kiranchi and Ponnaweli areas in Mulaittivu on Thursday (23) during an arrangement, made at Kiranchi community hall in Mullaitivu by 663 Brigade troops with sponsorship, offered by Mrs Lasanthika Kumari Ankumbura and Captain N.A.H.I Madumadawa of the Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG).
Brigadier Priyanjith Hennadige, Commander, 663 Brigade graced the distributing occasion as the Chief Guest and joined the distribution. Those gift packs, each worth about Rs.4000.00/= consisted of nutritious food varieties, mosquito nets, baby needs and other essentials.
During the occasion, Ven Dr Meththalankara Thero, Incumbent at Monarathenna temple in Welikanda chanting 'Seth Pirith' invoked blessings on expectant women and blessed them for their well-being.
663 Brigade troops of the 66 Division under the Security Force Headquarters -Mullaitttvu (SFHQ-MLT) with the blessings of the Commander, SF-MLT and the General Officer Commanding, 66 Division.
Major B.W.I Balasoorya, Commanding Officer, 2 SLNG, together with Other Ranks joined the distribution of gift packs among those deserving women.
