Troops of the 653 Infantry Brigade of the 65 Infantry Division under command to the Security Force Headquarters-Wanni, in order to multiply efforts for green agriculture, took steps to distribute more than 80 coconut saplings among 16 families living in Madu, Periyapandiwirichchan on Thursday (18 May) after inviting beneficiaries to the Priyapandiwirichchan Grama Niladari Office.
Brigadier D. N. C Serasinghe RSP USP, Commander 653 Infantry Brigade attended as the chief invitee to the occasion, together with the Commanding Officer of 4 Gajaba Regiment.
Those coconut saplings were made available to the troops by the Coconut Cultivation Board.
