On account of the annual Vesak commemoration, the General Officer Commanding of the 65 Division Major General Tikiri Dissanayake along with other Officers and Other Ranks arranged a milk food treat, 'Kiri Ahara Pooja' on 27 May 2021 at the sacred Ruwanweliseya & Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi premises in Anuradhapura.
In addition, a stock of religious books were also distributed by the GOC and other officers among those devotees in the compound as another charity feature.
In the meantime, 19 Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) and 17 (V) SLLI troops of the same 65 Division distributed a stock of dry ration packets to mark Vesak among the needy in Kalvilan, Wellankulam, Nachchikuda, Mulankavil and Iranamathanagar areas. 60 packets of dry ration worth about Rs: 3000 were distributed among low-income families, disabled and pregnant mothers on account of Vesak.
One Mr Morris Soundas Jayatilake and troops sponsored the stock jointly.
