Major General Hemantha Bandara, General Officer Commanding, 65 Division who was promoted recently to the rank of Major General was greeted to a Guard Turnout and honoured in a Guard of Honour upon his formal arrival at his 65 Division Headquarters in Thunukkai.
In conformity with military traditions, he was warmly welcomed by Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers, all officers and other rankers representing the 65 Division Headquarters, under command Brigades and Battalions. Later, the newly-promoted General Officer Commanding planted a sapling in the premises, followed by an address to the officers and other rankers of the 65 Infantry Division.
