To coincide with the 72nd Anniversary of the Sri Lanka Army, a newly - constructed house was vested in the needy family of Mr P.B Jayarathna in Maradankadawala, Horowpothana on the Army Day (10 October).
This new house, sponsored by the District Housing Development Authority was gifted to the beneficiary on an initiative taken by Brigadier Rohan Medagoda, Commander, 623 Brigade of the SFHQ – Wanni.
5 Gajaba Regiment troops under the supervision of the Commanding Officer, Major Dammika Herath, volunteered to build the house on the guidelines given by the Commander, 623 Brigade with the blessings of Major General Upali Gunasekara, General Officer Commanding - 62 Division.
District Manager at Anuradhapura Housing Development Authority, a local politician in the Pradeshiya Sabha of the area, and a few officers also took part in the warming of the house. At the same time, the Commander 623 Brigade, planted a few saplings in the house compound and gave away several house hold items to the beneficiaries.
