In order to enhance mutual understanding and sound relationship between the soldiers and the civilians in Sampathnuwara Ranaviru Village, the 621 Brigade of the 62 Division in Welioya in Padavi - Parakramapura organized a Sinhala and Tamil New Year festival at 621 Brigade Headquarters premises on Sunday (8).
Festivities included both Sinhala and Tamil traditional games and many more fun-making events which entertained the villagers in the area as well as the soldiers serving the 621Brigade and under command Battalions.
Brigadier Sanjaya Wanigasinghe, General Officer Commanding (GOC), 62 Division graced the occasion as the Chief Guest at the invitation of Colonel Kalpa Sanjeewa, Brigade Commander, 621 Brigade who was the organizer of the event.
A large number of members of the public and other senior officers were present at the occasion.
