621 Brigade Assists Re-consecration of the Welioya Maha Seya

The re-consecration of the Army-renovated, Welioya Maha Seya (pagoda), adjacent to the 621 Brigade Headquarters in Welioya took place on Sunday (15) to coincide with the dawn of the Sinhala and Tamil New Year.

Both 14 (Volunteer) Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) and 17 (Volunteer) Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) troops, together with villagers completed the renovation work before it was re-consecrated under the auspices of Ven. Baduraliye Kemadhamma Thero who was invited to the occasion by the 621 Brigade Commander, Colonel P.S.K Sanjeewa.

A special Buddha Pooja, Shabdha Pooja and Pahan Pooja, followed by a Dhamma oration of the monk invoked blessings on the occasion and Army troops with villagers supported the arrangements on that day. A 'Pirith' chanting on the same occasion extended blessings on the organization and the country. The pagoda built many years ago remained unattended due to LTTE violence that prevailed in the area.

Towards the end of the ceremony, herbal drinks and refreshments were served by the troops to all the visitors to the occasion.
