62 Division troops under the Security Force Headquarters - Wanni (SFHQ-W) assisted monks to organize the annual ‘Katina Pinkama’ during 11-12 November at Sri Bodhirukkharama Viharaya in Aliwanguwa, following guidelines given by Major General Dhammika Jayasinghe, General Officer Commanding (GOC), 62 Division.
Troops took part in the ‘Katina Cheewara’ procession with villagers and devotees and the subsequent ‘Bodhi Pooja’ programme, conducted at the temple premises before an all-night ‘Pirith’ chanting ceremony got underway. ‘Heel Daana’ in the following morning, plus offer of free meals to all attending the ceremony.
