A group of philanthropists, led by Mr Madawa Perera and Mrs Sachintha Katugampola including their school friends in response to a request of the Security Force Headquarters - Wanni (SFHQ-W) donated a stock of school essentials for the benefit of students, resident in the general area of Sampathnuwara in the Mahaweli Authority System L.
Under the guidance of Major General Champaka Ranasinghe, Commander, Security Forces - Wanni, 62 Division HQ in Welioya organized the distribution for 60 selected students, living in the area who have been affected due to poverty. The relief packs included school bags, lunch boxes, water bottles and a parcel of sweet-meats.
Major General Upali Gunasekera, General Officer Commanding, 62 Division, Brigadier Keerthi Perakum, Commander, 621 Brigade and a few officers were associated with the day’s distribution programme.
