The inter-division cycling tournament of the Security Force Headquarters-Wanni (SFHQ-W) got underway for the second time on Saturday (3) in Vavuvniya.
Around 50 cyclist competed representing seven teams, made up of from divisions.
Major General Ruwan Kulatunga, Commander, Security Forces -W graced the inaugural occasion of the cycle race as the Chief Guest.
The total distance of the men’s event covered 88 km while women’s category covered the 40 KM in total.
61 Division secured the trophy in the men’s category while the 21 Division team secured the runners-up.
In the women’s category 2(V) Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps (SLAWC) members were the champions and 4 (V) Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps (SLAWC) achieved the slot as the runners-up.
Rifleman R.A.S.G. Rupasinghe of 61 Division won the individual event whereas the 61 Division emerged as the team champions in the overall programme.
Recruit W.G.G.N Amarasinghe of 2 (V) SLAWC emerged as the best in the women’s category.
The Chief Guest gave away trophies to winning and runners-up teams.
General Officer Commanding, Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers, Officers and other ranks witnessed the race.
