Major General Sanjaya Wanasinghe, Commander, Security Forces-Mullaittivu attending one more community project as the Chief Guest took steps to distribute free dry ration packs and school accessories among the worst-affected civilians and school students on Thursday (20) after inviting the beneficiaries to the Vishuamadu Maha Vidyalaya premises in Visuamadu, Kilinochchi.
Mr Ninedra Bandara, Chairman, 'Nithmira' Apparels responding to the concerns of the 6 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment troops of the 572 Brigade under the 57 Division of the Security Force Headquarters-Mullaittivu provided the financial contribution that bought 20 dry ration packs, each worth Rs 6000/= for civilians and packets of school accessories, each parcel, valued at Rs 2750/= for 115 students in affected families.
Those beneficiaries were selected in close consultation with Grama Niladari officials in respective areas and school authorities and 6 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) troops organized the distribution project in the school premises with the support of the principal and teachers.
Lieutenant Colonel U.B.K Subasinghe, Commanding Officer of 6 SLSR troops serving the area coordinated the project with his troops as per directions of the General Officer Commanding, 57 Division and the 572 Brigade Commander.
The distribution occasion was attended by the General Officer Commanding, 57 Division, Brigade Commanders of 571,572 and 573 Brigades, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks.
