6 SLAC Troops with Expatriate’s Support Build New Home

6 Sri Lanka Armoured Corps (SLAC) troops of the 223 Brigade under the 22 Division of the Security Force Headquarters - East with financial assistance donated by the Sri Lankan expatriate in Australia Mr Nihal Udugamasuriya, erected a new house for a needy family in Mailawewa in Thusithapura and handed over the keys to the beneficiary on Sunday (28).

The project saw its fruition on the guidelines given by Major General Channa Weerasuriya, Commander, Security Forces - East and the General Officer Commanding, 22 Division, Major General Sanath Aluvihare. Colonel Ravindra Jayasinghe, Brigade Commander, 223 Brigade ensured its smooth construction in cooperation with the Commanding Officer of 6 Sri Lanka Armoured Corps.

The ceremony that followed strict health guidelines saw the keys for the new house were handed over to the beneficiary, Mrs Pradeepika Lakshanthini, a mother with few children who were without a proper shelter.

The inaugural warming ceremony was graced by Major General Channa Weerasuriya, Commander, Security Forces - East as the Chief Guest where religious observances and formal traditions were followed before the keys to the new house were delivered.
