The traditional ‘Katina Pooja’ ceremony at Kokilai Sri Sambodhi Viharaya received the cooperation of the troops after a request to that effect was made by the Chief Incumbent of the temple, Venerable Tissapura Gunarathana Thero during 22-23 October.
Major General (Retd) Jagath Dias, Brigadier Suresh Perera, Brigadier General Staff of Security Force Headquarters-Mullaittivu, 593 Brigade Commander Brigadier Pradeep Kulathilaka, together with 593 Brigade troops attended the ceremonies.
19 Gemunu Watch and 5 (v) Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment troops of the 593 Brigade extended their maximum support for the smooth conduct of the annual ceremony under the guidance of Major General Sanjaya Wanasinghe, Commander, Security Forces- Mullaittivu.
The religious programme concluded with ‘Heel Daana’ (breakfast) and the offering of ‘Atapirikara’ to all the monks. The final Katinanisansa sermon was delivered by the Chief Incumbent of the Temple.
