To coincide with the 72nd Army Anniversary, 12 Sri Lanka Light Infantry, 24 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR), 19 Gemunu Watch and 5 (V) Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment troops under command to the 591 Brigade and the 593 Brigade of the 59 Division of the Security Forces –Mullaittivu carried out a coastal belt cleaning project from Wadiduwag to Kokilai.
Marine pollutants, like plastic waste and polythene were removed from the beach with the support of tractors made available by the Mullaittivu Pradeshiya Sabha.
Senior Officers including Major General G.D Soriyabandara, General Officer Commanding 59 Division, Colonel General Staff 59 Division, Civil Affairs officer 59 Division, Commanding officers of 12 SLLI, 24 SLSR, 19 GW, 5 (V) SLSR, 591 Brigade Civil Affairs Officer and the Civil Affairs Officer 593 Brigade attended the cleaning project.
