An initiative taken by the 59 Division HQ of the Security Force Headquarters - Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT) as one more community project on Sunday (2) donated a stock of accessories and essentials that could be used by more than 115 orphaned children, resident at Bharathi Children’s Home and Ladani Children’s Home in the general areas of Mullaittivu.
The gesture was made possible due to generosity, extended by the Non-Governmental Organization, ‘Loved Charity’ through the coordination done by Major General C.D Sooriya Bandara, General Officer Commanding, 59 Division.
Accordingly, Major General Sanjaya Wanasinghe, Commander, Security Forces - MLT as the Chief Guest distributed those essentials including electric appliances, accessories, clothes, dry rations, etc to 101 girls and 15 staffers at Bharathi Children’s Home, situated in the area served by 23 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) troops of the 592 Brigade and 15 girls and 5 staffers at Ladani Children’s Home, located in the general area, served by 24 SLSR troops under the 591 Brigade.
Mr Pasindu, Manager, ‘Loved Charity’ and Sergeant J.P Liyanage who initiated the coordination for the project with the charity organization were also present at the location in addition to Major General C.D Sooriya Bandara, General Officer Commanding, 59 Division, Brigadier Sujeewa Perera, Commander, 591 Brigade, Brigadier Chaminda Arachchige, Commander, 592 Brigade. The joint arrangement got underway at Bharathi Children’s Home.
The event, organized by Major N.A.I.P.K Gamage, Commanding Officer, 23 Sri Lanka Light Infantry of the 592 Brigade also distributed sweetmeats and refreshments to all children and attendees at the end of the day’s ceremony.
