The 58 Division HQ celebrated its 14th Anniversary at the Division Headquarters in Puttalam during 1-3 January 2023 as instructed by Major General Wipula Ihalage, General Officer Commanding of the 58 Division HQ.
The ceremonies commenced with 'Pirith' chanting on 1 January at the Division HQ, followed by a mammoth alms-giving for 50 monks in the area. Further, a stock of essential dry ration packs were also donated to the "Sri Gnanodaya Pirivena" in Kiwula on Monday (2 January).
On the anniversary day (03) in accordance with military traditions, a ceremonial Guard Turnout was presented to Major General Wipula Ihalage, General Officer Commanding.
Afterwards, to symbolize the day’s event, the General Officer Commanding declared open the newly-constructed accommodation building for 58 Division's Other Ranks inside the compound before he addressed the troops. An all rank tea brought the anniversary segments to an end.
