A formal Guard Turnout plus a warm reception was accorded to retiring Major General Krishantha Gnanarathne, Commander, 1 Corps on Monday (12) when he made his final visit to the under command 58 Division HQ in Puttalam to meet the troops, prior to his retirement.
Major General Wipula Ihalage, General Officer Commanding, 58 Division and under command Brigade Commanders and Officers welcomed the day’s chief guest on his arrival after a Guard Turnout presented and saluted him at the entrance.
During his subsequent address to the troops, he thanked all Officers and Other Ranks for the support during his tenure of office and wished them good luck with their future endeavours. At the end of his speech, Major General Wipula Ihalage, General Officer Commanding, 58 Division presented a special memento to the outgoing 1 Corps Commander and appreciated his cooperation.
Giving significance to the day’s event, the 1 Corps Commander afterwards joined refreshments with the troops and shared a few thoughts with them.
