Troops of the 573 Infantry Brigade of the 57 Infantry Division under command to the Security Force HQ- Wanni coordinated a donation of library books to the Mankulam Maha Vidyalaya and Shanmugarathnam Primary school on 25 July during arrangements made at Mankulam Maha Vidyalaya.
Major General J.P.C Peiris RWP RSP ndc, General Officer Commanding, 57 Infantry Division attended the occasion as the Chief Guest.
Lieutenant Colonel D.D.S.R.M Dunusinghe, Civil Affairs Officer of the 573 Infantry Brigade coordinated the stock of relevant library books in close cooperation with the Principal at Royal College, Mr.Mahinda Galagedara, Chairman of Colombo Royal College EDEX, Mr. Rasika Gallappaththi, Senior Director of Colombo Royal College ‘Nanapahana’, Chairman of Colombo Royal College Library and Readers' Association, Chairman of Colombo Royal College Tamil Literature Association and and Mr. Tharindu Wickramasinghe, Student Coordinator. The stock of books exceeded 500 in number and included educational supportive ones.
Brigadier S.W.R Prasanna RWP RSP USP, Commander 573 Infantry Brigade readily supported the project considering difficulties, being faced by those needy students. Representative donors, Brigade Commander of 573 Infantry Brigade, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks participated in the event.
