Major General Jagath Gunawardane, General Officer Commanding (GOC), 57 Division Headquarters under the Security Force Headquarters - Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN) after completing nearly one year of service, relinquished duties on Tuesday (30).
To mark this occasion, several military formalities were organized by the Officers and Other Ranks in the 57 Division.
A Guard Turn Out and a Guard of Honour, presented by troops of the 1st Battalion of Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (1 SLSR) and the 6th Battalion of Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (6 SLSR) greeted the outgoing GOC before he delivered a customary address to the troops, assembled at the utility building of the 57 Division Headquarters.
An All Rank tea table and a farewell dinner on the same day (1) brought the day's programme to end. During the dinner, Officers presented a memento to the outgoing GOC and appreciated his tenure of office.
Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers and Staff Officers and Other Ranks participated in farewell arrangements.
Major General Jagath Gunawardane is to assume duties shortly as the new Master General Ordnance (MGO) at the Army Headquarters.
