The 56 Infantry Division HQ of the Security Force HQ-Wanni in close collaboration with the Green Agriculture Operations Center (GAOC) distributed one more stock of 400 milk powder packets among 200 needy families living in Vavuniya after inviting them to the Vavuniya District Secretariat auditorium on Saturday (24 December).
Fonterra Brands Lanka at the request of the Chief of Defence Staff and the Commander of the Army has sponsored the distribution of some 5600 milk powder packets in the entire region through the mediation of the Army as part of their community support programmes. Accordingly, Wanni troops organize the distribution in coordination with respective Grama Seva officials in areas, served by all Divisions, Brigades and units under command to the SFHQ-Wanni.
Beneficiaries selected by the 56 Infantry Division in close cooperation with respective Grama Niladari officials in GN Divisions were thus invited to the Vavuniya District Secretariat on the eve of Christmas.
Major General Manjula Kariyawasam, General Officer Commanding, 56 Infantry Division who offered guidelines for conduct of the distribution attended the distribution occasion as the Chief Guest, together with donor's representatives, Vavuniya District Secretary Mr P.A Sarathchandra, Commander 562 Brigade Brigadier Aruna Jayasekara, Senior Officers, Officials at Vavuniya District Secretariat and troops.
17 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment troops of the 562 Brigade under the 56 Infantry Division organized the event.
