Australia-based ‘Help and Helper Foundation’ through the coordination of the 10 (V) Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) of the 553 Infantry Brigade of the 55 Infantry Division under the Security Force HQ - Jaffna (SFHQ-J) gave away 38 packs of school accessories to selected needy students in Maruthankerny area in the Jaffna peninsula on Monday (27 March).
Each pack contained school accessories to the value of Rs 9000/= and 10 (V) VIR troops after inviting the recipients to the Cultural Centre in the Maruthankerny Divisional Secretariat distributed those relief packs as one more project that could promote goodwill between the Security Forces and the civil community.
The distributing event, organized as per directions of the General Officer Commanding, 55 Infantry Division was attended by 553 Infantry Brigade Commander as the Chief Guest, together with the Commanding Officer, 10 (V) VIR, Divisional Secretary for Vadamarachchi, Zonal Education Director, O.I.C, Maruthankerny Police Station, Principal at Maruthankerny College and the Grama Seva Niladhari.
