The 551 Brigade of the 55 Division of the Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQ-J) marked its 19th anniversary on Thursday (19).
After remembering fallen War Heroes at the Elephant Pass monument on Wednesday (18), the chain of commemorative events began.
A formal Guard Turnout and a ceremonial parade presented to the Commander, 551 Brigade, Colonel Asanga Perera by under command battalion troops; 4th Battalion Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment and 16 (Volunteer) Battalion Sri Lanka Light Infantry. Brigade Commander planted a sapling in the camp premises to mark the Brigade Day.
The whole night 'Pirith' chanting held on the same evening (19) ended the following morning offering alms to the Maha Sangha. Similarly, a Catholic Mass organized by the troops at St Thomas's Church, Point Pedro, a Special Hindu Pooja at Pillaiyar Kovil, Point Pedro and prayers at Mohideen Jumma Mosque, Point Pedro blessed the Brigade and the troops on its anniversary.
A blood donation campaign with more than 60 voluntary donors held on Wednesday (21) with the support of Manthikai Base Hospital, Point Pedro brought the commemoration to end.Best jordan Sneakers | Nike Shoes
